This second semester of 2008-9, you will write at least one paragraph every night that you had a Library Media Aide class during the day. The purpose for this assignment is to strengthen your descriptive writing skills and provide a record for yourself, your parents and for me about what you do each day during this class. I prefer a well-written, correctly spelled descriptive record of what you did during your Library Media Aide class. This blog participation is one rubric for this class. The more that you write the higher your grade will be in the class.
Today in Media Aide we took a tour of the library.We also went over what we have to do and how to do it.We checked in books and put them away.Also we made gmail accounts.

ReplyDeleteToday in Ms. Roof’s class she had showed us around. It was okay, but a little to much for me because I can’t remember where every thing is in 1 day. I also checked out some books and she had showed me how to check out some books by putting it in the scanner and when they are over do.

ReplyDeleteToday we learned how the library works. We worked with the entire over due books by cutting them in half, putting them in piles, and highlighting the dates. Then we put them in the teacher’s mail boxes.

You have to click print, cut them out, separate them into the right classes, and then put them in the right homeroom teacher’s box. We also took a tour of the library so we now know were everything is. Today has been a really fun first day.
ReplyDeleteToday in the library aides class we learned how to print overdue papers. First print (obviously). Then they come out two people on one paper, so you have to cut them in half. Then you sort them out by teacher. Highlight the date if it needs highlighting.

Today was my first day in media aide. We got note cards and wrote our information on it. After that was finished we got a tour around the library. We saw the fiction section and the nonfiction section. We went in the back room and learned about the magazines and how to use the laminator. Then we printed the over due books. We cut them out, highlited the dates, and put them in the teachers mailboxes. I can't wait for next class.

The first thing we did was read a page about Ms. Roof and what she has done in her educational process and what she plans on doing with us. After that she kind of gave us a tour of the entire library and told us what we will be doing and how. I think that being a media aid will be really easy because all summer long I volunteered at the acacia branch library and I had a lot of fun there, so I hope I will also have a lot of fun here too.

While I was organizing, a few 6th graders came in and I checked some of their books in, renewed the books and checked books out. After that ms. Roof had me take all of the misplaced books from the fiction section, alphabetize them, and place them on a vacant shelf. Then she told us that we could blog and as of right now that is what we are doing.

ReplyDeleteToday in class, everyone put the new books in the computer. While everyone was working on that, Katie and I helped Mrs.Roof look for White House pictures for the wall. After finding some presidential posters, Katie and I created a wall with President Obama on it with all of our previous presidents. Today I was busy.
Today in media aid we checked in books and we magnetized them. We also filed chess club papers in the teachers lounge. We then came back and checked in on the computer to see if the books were due or not.

January 12 Today we checked in books and it was easy. Then we had to put then where they go. So today was an easy job in the Media Aid. Today we had to put chess club flyers in the teacher’s boxes in the teacher’s lounge. It wasn’t a really exciting teacher lounge. Then we had to check on the computer to see if kids hadn’t return their books so we had to send late slips telling then that they needed to return their books. So now we are blogging.
January 14 Today Ms. Roof and I worked on setting up my account so I am able to blog. Grayson and Sophie had to put up magazines. And now I’m blogging.
Today in class we first got to fix some books. Then we checked in and out books. After that we filed some magazines. In the middle of that the bell rang.

As always in media aide we checked in books. A lot of the books would not set off no matter how much we magnetized them. We also got to register books in because the barcodes were to long. After that we got to bar codes on books.

ReplyDeleteOk well today in media aide, my group started off by putting plastic cover thingies on the paperback books. At first I was ahead of the other aides but then my book was being dumb and decided not to cooperate with me, and I got behind. While we were putting the covers on, this weird guy called Mrs. Roof and she told him to stop calling her. I asked her what it was about and she told me this crazy story about how this guy was bugging her to donate money to this African thing. She decided to cancel her transaction and the stupid guy told his boss. Now his boss is calling her and asking her all these annoying questions. Well yea that was pretty much our day of media aide.
ReplyDeleteToday in media aid was crazy. It started normal by putting a plastic like thing on the paper back books, when we were doing that this crazy guy called Mrs. Roof. That guy has been calling her for a few weeks now so she is getting really annoyed. Then the music class came in because there was a gas leak in the pipes so the came in the library. A few books came in so we checked those books in. that was our day of media aid.

ReplyDeleteToday in class I put magnitizing strips in a bunch of books! That took me half the class. Then Roz and I went in Ms.Blooms. We cleaned all the astronomy books off and took pictures out of callenders. Today was full of things to do.
Today in class we took all the old books and scratched out " madison meadows" everywhere we saw it. It took half the class time. Then I laminated vocabulary words for Ms.Blooms room and gave them to her. That is pretty much all we did.

Today I am so glad that all of the books cooperated and got magnetized the first time we did it. Then we put little metal bars in them that makes the sensor of if they are magnetized. Today was a little hard and frustrating but it was still a fun day!

ReplyDeleteToady was great. We put fliers together. Then put them in teacher’s boxes. Then we put the tape on certain books. I still want to be a librarian when I grow up.
ReplyDeleteToday in class, we organized posters. We gave a certain amount per teacher and then put them in their mailboxes. Then we went in the back room and taped all the new books that had not been taped yet. That was pretty much all we did.
ReplyDeleteToday in class we sorted fliers for teachers and put them on thier shelves in the little teacher room. After that we taped books and got to blog. Pretty easy day today.
ReplyDeleteToday in media aide we checked in books and put them in their proper place on the shelf. Then we seperated papers and put them in the appropriate teachers mailbox. Then we put tape on some of the books and now we are blogging.
ReplyDeleteToday we put a lot of books were they belong and we also checked some books in, in the beginning of class. We also magnetized some of the books some of them would not just work today and so we just put them to the side. That is mostly what we did today put a ton of books away.

ReplyDeleteToday in media aide we put away a lot of books Mostly by number but also by fiction and biography to. I got to put little strips in the books that magnetize them so no one can take them. I learned that the little strips each cost a dollar.
ReplyDeleteIn media aide I put away book magnetized them and checked them in. I found a little gap in the shelves that I can barely fit in. it was fun to put the books away because I made a game of it.
ReplyDeleteYesterday 1-29-09 we checked in a bunch of books i had to magnetize them, and then Tommy and I put barcodes on a bunch of books, while Aurora put the magnetizing strips on them. That took most of the class.
ReplyDeleteToday we sorted bingo reminder slips into each teachers mail box. We also checked in a lot of books. We then, after checking in the books, put the books on the shelves in their proper place.
ReplyDeleteToday in Media Aide the things we did was to put some flyers into some of the teachers bins. And then after that I checked in some books and magnetized them and organized them back into the shelves.
ReplyDeleteToady in Media Aid we had to check in books and we had to put them away. That was easy. Then we had to check in the barcodes which was easy also. Now we are blogging.
ReplyDeleteToday in media aid we got to put away the biographies and references books. And then we went to type in the barcode of the books in the computer. We only got to do four each though. And when that was done we headed of to blog and that is what we after doing now.
ReplyDeleteToday in media aid we put some books away we also cataloged some books we checked in and made sure the books where magnetized so no one could steal them and we then came on the computer and blogged.
ReplyDeleteToday in media aid I first cute out the papers of the over due books. Then I helped Aurora and Merrell on putting them in alphabetical then putting them in the teachers boxes. Then we switched the new magazines with the old ones. Then when we were done with that the bell rang.

ReplyDeleteToday in media aide there were no books to check in. we got to stamp a lot of books. I stamped the covers, Austin did the page 33, and Cole did the pages on the outside. We got to do the green slips last time but unfortunately there are no more.

ReplyDeleteOn February 6, 20009, Tommy and I cataloged a bunch of books. It seems like we got allot done because it is kind of a long process but we only got 15 or something close to that number.
ReplyDeleteToday was not a very busy day. We checked in a few books and put them through the security thing. After sorting them onto the shelves, we put new stickers on new an old books.
ReplyDeleteToday in media aide I didn't do much. I checked in some books, magnatized them and then filed them away back into the shelves. After I put on some stickers with barcodes on some books and then I blogged.
ReplyDeleteToday in Media Aid we put stickers that had the authors first three letters of their first name and if it was fiction, non-fiction, or biography, then we taped over it. We also taped over barcodes to make sure they would stay on. I got to put a few genre stickers on some of the books too.

Then I helped Mrs. Dewberry laminate posters for her classroom. Then I got a very thoughtful chocolate heart from Mrs. Ruth wishing me a Happy Valentine Day.
